Today, I got my posting orders for the Air Force. After spending four years training and studying to become an aerospace engineer, I am getting sent to the only base without aircraft. FML

Buddy America has government inefficiency too. If you don't believe me go to the DMV. Now please stop saying America is the greatest place ever. You're making Americans look bad.

exactly why Marines Corps is the way...Ooh-Rah Marines.

Does the USMC always send people where they want to go?

I live in Hawaii..so i would guess (:

Nice one. Those sort of postings are great, and actually live up to the recruiting hype. In Australia, the Air Force and Navy have the advantage that almost all of their bases are near cities and the coast. The Army - not so much. The one thing that is universal though, is that the postings always seem to be almost random. If you're not a person that can make the best of an unusual situation, then military (or military family) life is not for you!

wright-patt doesnt have any active duty aircraft. maybe you did so well you get to go to R&D?

It is what it is.* *Yeah, I hate that phrase too.

That's what you get for joining the chair force. I mean air force...

Sorry you couldn't score high enough to get into the better branch.

I'm in for aerospace engineering with aspirations to join the US Air Force - a post to a base with no planes, after all that effort, is a time to reflect on why the hell things like this happen.

My guess is that you have a boss with a sense of humor and everytime you screw up he can say " Look, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out!" An American expression.

engineers design em not drive em. loser.

Planes and flown, not driven. Also, not all engineers design planes...the ones in the military usually just maintain them. Also, many aerospace engineering courses also train you to fly as well, if you want to take that route. Engineer pilots are very common. Get your facts right, loser.

Core Value: Service Before Self. The needs of the Air Force come before personal needs. Do your time then put in for BOP.

It's very unfortunate the that's the nature of the military. That's one reason I'd never consider joining any branch of the military. If you value personal freedom then you should not have signed your freedoms away by joining the military. I know the Australian military has lots of ads saying how great it would be in the military, but it's mostly hype. Don't get me wrong, we need people in the military, but it's not for everyone.
