Today, I was at a water park with my family. They wanted me to stand underneath this big bucket filled with water. I didn't know it tips over, and my swimsuit isn't the tightest, so when all the water fell down, my swimsuit bottoms fell to my knees in front of tons of kids. FML

This reminds me of the short story The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, first published in the New Yorker in 1948. Actually, it's just like the story, except it's paper balls instead of stones.......

I fail to see how singling out one student and then having the entire school throw paper balls at them is a way to promote school spirit. I mean, please, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming that the rally was a pep rally. How in the hell does humiliating some poor kid supposed to gain school spirit? It seems to me, the only thing this accomplished was to teach those students that it's okay to humiliate someone in public.

Really? They don't even let us boo the freshmen anymore. I had no idea schools actually did this kind of crap. Isn't that considered bullying? There's almost no bullying at my school so don't know what that's like. I'm sorry you had to go through that, your principal should be fired for letting that happen. There should be volunteers, not nominees.

Thats not that bad actually. See it as a contest an you won it. Now everyone has fun while throwing paper at you. If you're really humiliated by that, then you need to learn how to not care and just chill.
