I think it's more likely that your cat ran away because it was scared, they tend to hide or run when something like that happens. I'm assuming you've checked around the house in spots where it could hide, but it's also possible that it's hiding in the house even if you checked perhaps you missed it.... I might take another look around just to be sure. I know somebody who couldn't find their cat after a break in, they found her a little bit later and she had been trapped under something that had been tossed over where she'd gone to hide. So I'd take another careful look around and clean up anything that they might be able to hide under, if there is anything. Also it may come home in a day or two if it just ran away. Anyway, I hope you get your cat back.

Any new animal lime cats an dogs, consider a tracker. Saved me a lot of searching and heart ache. Sorry about your cat OP.

As quite a few people have said, maybe your cat got out while those assholes were robbing you. It's quite possible (s)he's just too afraid to come back right now. Try putting up signs around the area, maybe someone will find him/her...good luck!
