bekkylove22 tells us more.
Just to clarify, no I did not allow this person to take any mice. Live feeding is illegal in the UK (where our rescue is based) and the majority of the mice we have are ones that came from illegal 'feeder breeders' that were shut down by the RSPCA after being proven to be selling mice for use as live feed. Some of these mice have been hand reared by me from the day they were born if their mother had abandoned them or died herself, so there's no way in hell I would let them go somewhere they would be used as food. Hope this helped anyone who was asking questions!

But they're just rats....people nowadays care more about pests than people.
A "rodent rescue" is ridiculous. They're vermin that are meant to be got rid of. What do they do, go around scooping them out of sewers?
That's because they're still animals that can make wonderful pets. Especially when someone doesn't have the space for bigger animals or are unable to take them exercising like they need. Maybe if you'd stop judging these creatures by ridiculous accusations and stories, you'd realize they're lovely, friendly animals that can make you fall in love with them just as much as any cat or dog could.
They're not "just" rats. Rats are intelligent, affectionate, clean, sociable, intuitive, and fun. Also, we don't just rescue rats. We rescue ANY AND ALL rodents.
I love rats. My friend used to have 5 lovely little rats, all friendly who loved to be held and enjoyed sitting on your head or shoulders.
I have a friend who had pet rats and those rats were amazingly fun, and then they got like 12-15 more from some guy who was abusing them, so then they had around 20 or so.
they also breed like...well... rats. And spread the plague.
#123 - You know what spreads a lot of illness? Humans. Kill them all! Also, it was fleas, not rats which spread the plague.
I love rats. One of my colleagues that I worked with at the vet clinic had a rat she'd bring to work. He'd sit on our shoulders and loved cuddling in our scrub pockets. He never soiled himself, he was very clean and very affectionate.
I keep a rosy boa, a small constrictor species of snake less than three feet. I never feed her live! She has been on frozen/thawed her whole life and accepts them without too much fanfare. I've also kept pet rats and gerbils. Frozen/thawed is safer, parasite resistant/free, and generally less stress to both animals. And ratties are love! They just don't have long lifespans...
Might get down voted but seriously they are called rodents because they are a nuisance to home owners and or society.
False. They are called "rodents" because they are mammals known for gnawing, such as rats, mice, and squirrels. They were named for the sake of classifying them, for scientific purposes. They are obviously not a nuisance when you keep them as a pet.
Your are more of a nuisance then any rodent would be.
Seriously some you people's comments,.. I really wonder who ties your shoe laces.
Apparently they haven't learned that frozen is the best diet for snakes. Parasite free and healthy.
Someone doesn't understand the meaning of the word 'rescue'.
Glad to hear that you didn't give it to them at the animal shelter I work with in USA if we know that they are going to just leave them outside the whole time with no interaction or the cats are they just solely to catch mice and not a pet we don't give them the pet. I was hoping it was the same with your situation! Glad to hear it too

new slogan for you; mice are friends, not food
Aww the wonderful cycle of life isn't it intense. At least they aren't just killing them off with traps or poison or worse. Sad reality is that we all eat living things and that's part of the cycle .
