Today, I had a half-hour conversation with my parents about going to college. I don't know what's worse, that they were trying to talk me out of it or that they're convinced that I'm going to get knocked up and drop out by the end of my freshman year. FML

Don't you just love it when your parents are supportive.

Are you promiscuous? Do they have a valid reason to make such accusations?

That's a pretty bold statement from your parents. Maybe it would be a good idea to go to a community college your first year and then transfer to a university. This will show them you're responsible and can handle your classes. Good luck!

You need to go to college. Dont let anyone talk you out of your dreams. Just be responsible but enjoy yourself. I had good grades, but hated HS. had a lot of fun in college, but worked hard. Graduated top of my class in undergrad and medical school. You can do anything if you want it bad enough.

well prove them wrong. it feels great to prove people that doubt you wrong. and you will get a good education from it. your parents will apologize for doubting you

Don't think twice about it and don't you let them treat you like a bird brained little girl. You're past 18, you are a young adult now , you can make your own choices, right or wrong. The'll only be too happy to take the credit for your achievements.

1. Perhaps they speak from experience? 2. Just use protection. 3. There are worse things that can happen to people. I knew a guy that didn't live till graduation.

My parents are divorced, and in the state I live in, each parent pays a third, and the kid also pays a third. I happened to get a scholarship that covered tuition, and all they had to worry about was room/board. My mom still had a fit because "$4000 is too much money per year." That's about how much she spends on cigarettes per year. She literally disowned me because of this. I pray for you, op.

There's got to be a reason why they are saying it....hahaha

Two words: student loans. You get the **** out of there as fast as you can. Judging by your description, they will do what they can to run your life. Don't give them that satisfaction.
