Hey, OP here. After I said that, the interviewer busted out laughing- so there's a plus. She also said something along the lines of "Ya know, nobody says that sort of thing. Usually it's the boring 'I really need a job' type. But not you!" And laughed some more. I really need this job though, I've applied everywhere and this place is the first to call me. I won't know if I got it or not until next week, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Just depends on what kind of job you were interviewing for, and the interviewer's sense of humor! If I'd liked a candidate so far a quip like that wouldn't turn me off. A sense of humor can lead to more easygoing business relationships, which can be a plus in many industries. As long as you followed it with legit reasons to hire you, I think you're good!
This is too funny, I hired someone about a month ago that said the same thing. I'd never heard anyone say it before and I always look for unique response instead of "I'm a hard worker." It made her seem confident and funny. She ended up being totally awesome.
I wouldn't worry too much. It's much better than the standard "Because I am working so hard, and I am such a good team player, yadda yadda yadda..." Everybody says that. Think of something on your own, be honest, show some self-confidence and most importantly - be able to defend what you say. If the interviewer is good and not just looking for a slave-drone, you should be fine. In my last interview I had a completely different view of how certain processes should be implemented as one of the highest-ranking managers of the company and argued against him. That was essentially what got me the job. I wish you good luck!
I hate that question...it decides a yes or a no...
I hope you do get the job because clearly you are AWESOME lol
You're confident, the get a job you need that characteristic. :p
BECAUSE IM AWESOME
I said that and I got the job! lol I guess it's all in the delivery.
I can't say YDI or FYL on this one because I don't know what type of job you applied for. If the place was strictly professional then I would say YDI, but if its a more laid back kind of job, then FYL, even though it wouldn't be that bad.

That should be more than enough to give you the job.
I would hire you on the spot.
