Hey, OP here. After I said that, the interviewer busted out laughing- so there's a plus. She also said something along the lines of "Ya know, nobody says that sort of thing. Usually it's the boring 'I really need a job' type. But not you!" And laughed some more. I really need this job though, I've applied everywhere and this place is the first to call me. I won't know if I got it or not until next week, so I'm crossing my fingers!

It's not a horrible answer OP! Much better than an awkward silence or answer that shows an obvious lack of self esteem.
They know that any answer you give to those questions is bullshit. It's a bullshit question. Same as "why do you want to work here" or "where do you see yourself in five years". Only one real reason you're there, it's the pay cheque and they know it.
Well, if you were applying for a job as a deity, that would have been the perfect answer. I hear Shiva mind want a summer substitute, much like Jon Stewart has John Oliver.
My understanding is you don't apply for jobs like that, you just start doing it and with any luck you'll start picking up followers.
Oh! That must be where your going after Athena saved you from being thrown off the tower by redbluegreen!
You're hired! Anyone who gives me an answer like that deserves to get te job in my opinion! :D
If you're so awesome, you'll get the job! ;)
What are you, Prussia? *A lot of people won't get this
My friend did that a few months back... But we live in Ontario not Ohio
'twas a girl, and no she did not haha. It was for a pretty professional psychology position, not the kinda place to joke like that in. :(
And how did she feel about that?
I would hire you on the spot if that was my interview, confidence and enthusiasm are pretty important in a lot of industries.
Actually, you could have spun that to your benefit. If you can impart to an interviewer that you are confident without being arrogant, it reflects REALLY well on you.

That should be more than enough to give you the job.
I would hire you on the spot.
