Today, I had a job interview. When I got there, the lady interviewing me shook my hand and said, 'Hello, I'm gay.' I found this strange and I didn't know what to say, so I stated, 'Aw, it's OK, I support you.' She looked pretty offended, and I realized why when I found out that her name was Gaye. FML

I would've been confused too OP.

You'd think someone named Gaye would be used to that reaction by now, and would introduce herself as "Gaye Smith", or "My name is Gaye. "

Do parents want their kids to suffer?

She should be used to people being confused and change her name lol.

My boss once got mad, thinking the front desk was playing a trick on her for cooking a haircut for a Gaye Mann. Then the 70 year old woman came in for her appointment . . . .

"aw, it's okay?" why would you offer your condolences on her sexuality?

I would have said, "Hi, I'm straight." lol

I love how you responded though. Very accepting and nice. ?

That's hilarious :D Don't feel bad, OP. At least you're a tolerant person.

I don't see why she would be offended, you didn't even say anything rude you just misunderstood.
