Today, I had a job interview. When I got there, the lady interviewing me shook my hand and said, 'Hello, I'm gay.' I found this strange and I didn't know what to say, so I stated, 'Aw, it's OK, I support you.' She looked pretty offended, and I realized why when I found out that her name was Gaye. FML

You'd think someone named Gaye would be used to that reaction by now, and would introduce herself as "Gaye Smith", or "My name is Gaye. "

As soon as I read "I support you" I knew you were a city freak, I was right! I am against gay relation ships it's against the bible.

That's ****** up dude. It's HER fault.. Knowing that her name is ridiculous and will cause confusion, dumb bitch should've said "Hi, MY NAME is Gaye" in the first place...

Hilarious in hindsight, but it must have been embarrassing when it happened, so my sympathies for that. Honestly, the interviewer really should have been used to reactions like that. I've never been introduced to anyone named Gaye, so perhaps it's not the most common name anymore. You didn't do anything wrong, OP, so don't feel bad when other idiots tell you that you deserved it. I would have had a similar reaction.
