Today, I had a job interview with a person named Chris. The entire time I couldn't figure out if Chris was a man or woman. The interview went as good as it could have went. At the end I said, "Thank you very much sir." Wrong gender. FML

172 comments, and I'm the first one to say it? Was (s)he with her 'special friend', Pat? I bet that joke flies over 95% of the heads here.

Yeah people that seemingly could be either gender and have dual gender names can be a nightmare o.O

I can't imagine the interview going that well when you obviously don't even know 2nd grade English. "The interview went as well as it could have GONE" is the correct term. Either way, you're a dumbass on many different levels. All you had to say was "thank you for the interview". YDI

You deserved it just for saying, "The interview went as good as it could have went". The correct grammar would be "The intervies went as WELL as it could have GONE". Verbs don't happen "good", they happen "well", and the hypothetical version of "went" (which is a bad word, btw - "proceded" is much better) is "gone".

The period goes inside the quotation marks, btw.

Actually, in some English-speaking countries the period does not go inside the quotations marks. (might want to brush up on your knowledge of English before you end up making the same mistake again - you don't want to look like the dumbass in the celiac thread)

Dammit, I hate when you can't tell what gender people are. If they're not going to be the gender they were born with, fine, but they need to at least pick one and make it obvious so as not to confuse people, or if they want to look androgynous, don't get mad at people for not being able to tell. Lovergirl9008, you just spelled two words wrong while telling someone off for their grammar. Shut the **** up and get the **** out.

"they need to at least pick one and make it obvious" - Who are you to tell people what to do? Don't you think they can decide on their own what they want to wear or what haircut they have? and "so as to not confuse people"? because everyone should dress and act based on what will be least confusing to others, not based on what makes them happy? that makes a whole lot of sense. Why don't we just dictate that everyone be white, conservative men who look and act identically? That way people won't have to be confused anymore.

Sounds like Chris Crocker to me.. that's a man. Right?

"You're a gentleman and a scholar... Oh, I'm sorry. My mistake. That was a woman I was talking to...Very low voice. Probably a smoker."

Having been a hiring manager for the better part of 12 years I can honestly say YDI. If you're not sure about something, don't say it. At least it's minor enough that they probably can't sue you for it.

OP thats rough. it slips, i accidentally called my own mother sir she whooped my ass for it but then thanked me for being so polite... if it happens again and they look at you funny say "sorry, i use sir as an equigender title of respect" it works, and it gets you brownie points :)

Your either very stupid or lying. I REALLY hope that your lying

stupid or lying imo..... can't tell from the voice? you could also sneak your way into knowing her gender by asking for her full name..... I''m sure Christopher or Christine/Christina is a one-gender only name
