OK! On the form they DID ask if i was legally able to work in the US and if I was 21 or over (for driving purposes only, this was not a requirement for the job), but no where did it ask if i was 18. I brought my resume to the interview, and had i not given them this resume saying I was a current student at my high school and Running Start, they would not have asked if I was 18 or not. and to those scoffing about my greener practices and being excited about this job-- this was a great job making $9-$14/hr, anybody getting their first job would love to make $14/hr starting! it really did suck day of, i was supposed to go in the next day for training.' but i have another interview this coming week and life goes on :)

environmentalist rofl. stay in school
thats happened plenty of times to me, the only place your going to get hired is in food, most likely fast food, not fair but whatever truth hurts a bit
Isn't your date of birth one of the first things you put on a job application? So, you lie about your age, huh? Well, it's a good thing we didn't have sex -- I'd be going to prison, but you'll be stuck with indelible images of my naked body. You'd be the one who's worse off! ;)
In the US it is illegal for them to ask you for your age. You dont have to answer and they cant not hire or fire you for being 17. Even if you are younger than, say, 16, they cant ask for your age. All they can legaly do is just not hire you in the first place if they can justify it for looking like you are too young... but seriously they cant ask for you age.
Actually, what they did was legal. You are not allowed to ask in an interview what age the person is, but you CAN ask if they're 18, meaning, they can ask "are you at least 18 years old?" or "are you over 18?"
An employer in the US cannot legally ask for your age or your date of birth in the interview or on the application. Since they did ask for your age you dont have to tell them.
Wow people, learn the laws, if you're under 18, it doesn't matter, they can ask, nothing illegal about it.
that would've so totally worked!
same thing happened to me =/
that's illegal, unless it said on the app "you have to be 18 to apply"

you'd think that would have come up sooner than when they decided to employ you...
most environmentalist organizations are whacko anyway.
