I'm going to say your life sucks, but you really should've doubled check
Why are there comments here that are for the fml that's below this one?
If a drivers license gets put in the mail it gets delivered back to the address on the license. So you'll get it back eventually... Still sucks though
Keep it safe from what? How would keeping a drivers license in an envelope protect it from anything? UV rays? Do you normally wear it around your neck? Just, what?
You'll get it back in a few days. A drivers license dropped in a mailbox will be sent to the address listed. If you ever find a lost one, just drop it in the nearest post box!
why wasn't it in your purse/wallet
buy a wallet :)
Figures that you're from California... Typical.
What, you don't have a wallet to keep your permit, like the rest of us normal folk?
I am still completely dumbfounded as to how putting your driver's license in an envelope is meant to "keep it safe". Is your driver's license printed on a cracker and you're worried about it breaking?

Don't worry too much OP, there's a hobo walking around wondering what to do with a credit card he was given.
It always pays to double check before dropping it in the box. However you can go into the postoffice and they can have an employee get it back for you.
