Today, I had my gallbladder removed. I have a very painful incision in my belly that makes any kind of movement excruciating. I've had the hiccups 5 times so far. FML

Yeah they did it laparoscopically. And any kind of major surgery is going to be painful, but having it done laparoscopically is much, much better than an open incision! Try not to worry, it's a very safe surgery and they'll take good care of you :)

I got into a pretty bad car accident a few years ago where I had 8 broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, fractured pelvis, lacerated spleen and a collapsed lung. I laughed and cried when I got the hick ups while in the ICU. It hurt soo bad but there is nothing you can do to it but hold a pillow against your chest to keep the ribs from shifting too much

I feel your pain. I just had abdominal surgery on Monday. You poor thing

Oh GOD... hiccups are the worst anyway, but oh, you poor thing! I hope you're back to 100% soon! Hang in there!

Spoon full of peanut butter. I have yet to see it not work on anyone. I've heard all the other dumb ideas but this works 100% of the time :)

Don't they have medication for that? You're at a hospital, I'm sure they can give you some pain meds

I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and also had wickedly awful pain and was prescribed way too high of a dose of vicoden for my weight. My first day home from the hospital I ended up throwing up 3 times all while holding all 4 of my incisions, as if that would keep them from busting open!

Been there! But just sneezes, not hiccups. Hope your recovery goes well and you're back to normal in no time.
