I've never locked my kids in the car but if I oneday am using a model car where this little accident COULD occur (no one is perfect. we've ALL made mistakes) due to a vague-out, I would first assess the situation. is it cold? Yes. do I need to smash my car window? No. Could I call a roadside assistance service that I've prepaid so that I don't waste a couple hundred bucks (& time) getting a window replaced? Yes. Do I later open myself up to a bunch of judgmental assholes by posting my stupid moment on FML? No. P.S. I am assuming OP simply made an innocent mistake in the process of leaving her vehicle. If she left the kids in the car while she went shopping for any length of time. if that were the case, then **** YOU OP. maybe purchas the book 'Parenting for complete ******* morons'.

wow. lots of haters here who can't seem to grasp that this fml is not detailed enough to make even half of the over opinionated judgement calls here. I see a lot of people think that these toddlers must have been traumatized. so haters, here are some factors you maybe haven't thought of that op probably did at the time, and didn't put in the fml. 1- are kids in distress 2- temp inside the car (op could have parked in shade) if yes to 1and 2 is hot, then duh go ahead and smash window. 3- how long did it take AAA to get there(ever think op explained on the phone about kids being in the car, the company might run an urgency priority system. this is probably up there at the top of the list) it could have been like only ten minutes, admittedly I'm not familiar with AAA so I don't know there but the longest I've ever waited for a locksmith was under an hour. 4- are the kids secure 5- is the car secure(so no ones going anywhere right?) 6- are the kids really going to die of boredom As long as the kids are safe and op waited by the car the WHOLE time, there is no problem here. And all you first time moms who would "never do that", wait until it happens to you, it's not about forgetting the kids it's about forgetting the keys and taking at least two toddlers shopping among other things seems like an ideal frame of mind for forgetting about the keys, and some cars can lock you out or maybe op is just new to the car and had trained themselves to lock the door as they got out as I did with my last car which didn't have central locking. just umm maybe something to think about ay? ps I'm sure all you haters are great parents, but not meeting your standards doesn't make someone a bad parent ( necessarily).

i actually read your entire comment -- and you make sense! i thought i was shit outta luck for a second. |the kid|

lol thanks kid, sorry it was so long but I wanted to be thorough as these ppl seem to want to make up their own details if you don't provide them.

Don't feel too badly, OP--these things happen. My girlfriends and I all have toddlers, and several of them have done the same and/or similar things. You're not a bad parent; you're probably just an extremely busy and probably stressed parent. To everyone who has said ugly things about OP's parenting, remember that no one is perfect. Everyone has less-than-stellar days and makes mistakes.
