Today, I had to explain to my boss that DVI ports are not the same as HDMI ports. When I showed him the HDMI cable, he said, "Oh! You mean USB!" He's an engineering manager. FML

I'm technologically inept and I still know that an HDMI port is not synonymous with a USB port.

Oh wow. And some good engineers cant find jobs and have to work at walmart for minimum wage.

Technically there are some HDMI's that are shaped like a USB or at least have a male USB end

In fact DVI and HDMI ports are 100% compatible, and differ only in form factor.

Sounds like there are a few little lies on his resume

I have had some dumb questions come in while I'm working (IT department for a school), but nothing that bad, hang in there man

You work for the government, don't you?

Engineers: The dumbest smart people you'll ever meet!

I know that feel bro. With the varying levels of HDMI (the D-link, the standard, and the HDMI w/power adapter) I get this often. Say DVI, VGA, or Graphic Port and people get this look on their face like aliens have invaded or you are speaking Greek.... The terminology is Geek, please don't touch a keyboard or open an email. :) IT does have its downfalls. You either provide Information dealing with Technology that others do not understand or you have to provide Technology with understanding to people who do not grasp the concepts of it. Hence my personal life motto "Shipping, Handling, Information, and Technology... You can't spell S.H.I.T. Without "IT"."
