Today, I had to go to the hospital to get blood taken. The nurse mentioned how pronounced and easy to see my veins are. I guess that explains why she missed five times in a row. I'm surprised my arm doesn't look like a heroin addict's right now. FML

I'm needle phobic. If they don't hit the vein on the first try I demand a different nurse.

This always happens to me when I have blood drawn. However, my nurses always tell me that my veins are too tiny, so they end up poking and digging around at least six or seven times before getting a vein.

Same thing happened to my wife. The nurse gave up and the next one got it on the first try

I know exactly the feels!! One time this nurse kept the needle in my arm for about 5 mins trying to push to vein into the needle

Isn't there some law or rule about how many times a nurse can poke you before someone else has to try?

Well when I had to be put under for my wisdom teeth removal surgery they had to stick me 10 times..

Complain to someone. Nurses are supposed to be more experienced than that. She needs more practice not in a stressful environment.

Guess its time to start wearing long sleeve shirts.

I had to help my father get his phlebotomy certification this week. I was stuck 3 times in each arm. He only missed once, but I gotta say, finger sticks and back-of-the-hand sticks are way worse. The one time he did miss though he mistakenly poked my tendon in my left arm. He realized it right away and stopped to retry. Arm still hurts slightly.

I have to get a form of chemo every 6 weeks probably for the rest of my life trying to start an I.V.on me before my veins got all scared from them was hard now it's almost impossible ... My record is 18 attempts .... I know it sounds made up but unfortunately it's not :/

You NEVER mention how nice the vein looks before you get blood or you're never going to hit it. Isn't that rule number one?
