Also, to the concerned people in the comments, bleeding for a while after getting your IUD in is totally normal, especially in the first few weeks (though it can several months). There's really no reason to talk to their doctor about the bleeding unless it's continuously heavy, or if it's bothersome enough to warrant the IUD's removal. If it's neither of those, then I'd suggest stocking up on iron supplements and investing in a red towel.

I'm pretty terrified now. On Monday I'm not getting the IUD, but Nexplanon put in. I'm sorry OP. I know my friend had to go on a birth control pill for a few months while the IUD was in to stop the bleeding. I really hope this doesn't happen to me.
I've had the ParaGard IUD for about 4 years. I never had any excess bleeding. Spotting is normal, but I've never dealt with that either. The IUD you're talking about releases hormones so there is a bigger chance of bleeding and side effects. Personally, that's why I went with the ParaGard, it lasts about 10 years and no hormones . Regardless of what you get, if you are worried about something don't hesitate to call your doctor. If you're worried about something let them know and they will tell
It shouldn't. I was on nexplanon for over a year. Only had it removed because my body started reacting badly to it
It's gotta suck being that small percentage that has issues with them :/
That's actually normal. I have an IUD as well and you can experience bleeding and cramps for up to 5-6 weeks after the IUD is put in. If it's extreme cramps and heavy bleeding to the point you're going through 6 overnight pads a day, THAT'S when you want to contact your doctor. I'm surprised they didn't go over that with you before you left. It's standard practice and a requirement for health practitioners to inform patients of those kind of things. They have to get an acknowledgment from the pa
Mine did that too! Then it would stop for a week, then start again. It did that for a couple months and I had horrible pain. I still get pretty awful cramps, but the bleeding is regular now. I wouldn't have them take it out just yet. Taking it out hurts almost as bad as having it put in, so I'd give it a bit longer. If you still have a lot of issues then consider taking it out. Good luck girl! I hope it gets better!

It's only a real problem if you're bleeding really heavily! Have you got the Mirena hormonal one? I was told by my doctor that I'd at least spot for 6 weeks, which was what happened to the day, and I've been totally period-free since! Best decision of my life. It was a bit of a pain but definitely worth sticking it out :)

Yeah I bled for three weeks when I first got mine. It had almost stopped but started again after intercourse and then I started my cycle. I feel your pain.

That's common. Mine went for almost 3 months. You just need to wait it out a bit. Honestly its worth the time of bleeding for nearly 5 years of no period and no worries of getting pregnant.

Have you told your doctor? You probably should if you haven't, that doesn't seem normal.
I've had that happen to me. Was on my period for like 2 months. Had them take it out and it ended a week later
