Today, I heard my dad complaining that he won't be able to go to a concert, because it's happening on my birthday. This is the first time he's even acknowledged my birthday in over ten years. FML

OP. why is this an fml? If your dad cancels his concert because of your birthday, I would think he is trying to acknowledge the birthday now. That should make you happy. Just wait and see what happens.

To be honest I think most dads don't even remember their kid's birthdays unless their wife or kids remind them. Like my own dad. For example I'll tell him that I'm planning to come home for the weekend to celebrate my birthday with him and mom and he's like, "Your birthday's coming?" :(

I'm the least favrot of 3 children I do everything right and get nothing for it I have dyslexia and I'm a.d.d but no one gives a flying **** they just think I'm stupid to be stupid he hasn't noticed you in 10 years try 14 I'm only 17 and it's not just my dad it's everybody I'm used to it and I've been anti social since i was 5 bcuz of all these events I've never had a girlfriend and the only person that wants to spend time with me is my dog remember there's still worst than what I've been through keep that in mind

Honestly, your problem seems more of a "poor me" kind of crap. Yeah being a teenager sucks, yeah your parents don't get you or pay you enough attention. Boo ******* hoo. Sitting there telling people you've had it worse in some sort of messed up my horse is bigger than your horse crap is not gonna get you any sympathy. Buck up and realise that you are 17, if no-one wants to spend time with you at that age it's because of YOU and something you are doing. Stop playing the blame game and being a victim or you'll be miserable forever. I certainly wouldn't want to date someone who's so negative.. To the original poster of the fml, best revenge ever, go to the concert for your birthday...without your father.

well, it shows that he knows when your birthday is and that he considers it more important than going to a concert of his favorite band.
