Today, I heard on a local radio a song I wrote almost 2 years ago. Apparently, after my family and I moved away, my former band found a new guitar player, and that song is now the first single of their debut LP. FML

you really should sue them or sth, what if they become the next big thing with a song that you wrote?

so long as you've got decent evidence that it's your song, you've got a legitimate lawsuit there.

Do not wallow in your misfortune. Allow it to give you what direction it can for your future endeavors. If you wondered whether you might be successful in your art, the universe has provided you an answer. That is good.

YDI for not copywriting your music. This industry is a bitch... stay on your shit and expect everyone to screw you over. Do you have proof that the song is yours? Then be prepared to get a good lawyer. www.facebook.com/whitneyoneilofficial

Yep, sue them if you can prove that you wrote it. (Like copies, emails, friends who saw what you wrote, etc.) Always copyright everything you write, just as a precaution, for the future.
