Today, I introduced my boyfriend to my parents. My dad looked at him and said, "Nice outfit, but it's a little late for Halloween." Before I could intervene, my boyfriend said that joke had been done to death, to which my dad retorted, "Yeah, so has your mum." Instant fistfight. FML

If I was the boyfriend, I'd have said "touché" and went on with it. Mom jokes aren't even worth fighting over anymore.

how does your bf dress if he gets that a lot

Parents are suppose to act mature and have manners. Hope the boyf won

I like the Halloween but the mom part is too far.

Well at least your dad can never doubt your boyfriend's willingness to throw a punch. Now he knows you're in capable hands :-D

It's ur boyfriend's fault he should have shied off the first comment. Most dads don't like their daughter's boyfriend at first, especially when he's dress badly.

I would disagree for all we know he could have been very well dressed and the dad still made the joke. Even if he wasn't, all the BF said back was oh man that jokes been done to death which isn't really even a comeback it's more of a statement, but then the dad had to go wayyyy out of line and make a joke about the bfs mum which is just really rude especially for someone you are meeting for the very first time.

I don't blame your boyfriend for smacking your father out. He deserved it. What a way to make a first impression... your father has no respect for you. A joke is a joke but not In a situation like that. You don't make a joke about someone's mother being a *****/**** when you first meet them. Its in poor taste, and you deserve to get some sense knocked into you.

Imagine the toasts/speeches at your future wedding!
