Today, I introduced my boyfriend to my parents. My dad looked at him and said, "Nice outfit, but it's a little late for Halloween." Before I could intervene, my boyfriend said that joke had been done to death, to which my dad retorted, "Yeah, so has your mum." Instant fistfight. FML

Today, my parents met my boyfriend, and to say it went badly is an understatement. My mom went outside to relax by chain smoking and the shouting, and the screaming only ended when my dad took my boyfriend by the scruff of the neck and threw him out the front door into the street. FML

Whatever you do, don't let your dad control your life. You're the one who decides who your boyfriend is, and considering the personality of your dad, he should have absolutely no say in this matter. This isn't to say that your boyfriend isn't overly violent, but you can't expect the average person to back down from every fight, however nice that would be.

I agree. It seems the OP's dad thinks that if he's rude enough to all her boyfriends, she'll stay his precious little girl forever. She needs to let him know that that's not the case.
