You need to have a chat with your partner because you don't just wake up with herpes.

What's the difference between Love and Herpes? Herpes lasts forever.

Oh dear. Well, it's common enough, and can be treated. Good luck, take care!

And for the last but not yeast of the fml's I've read today...

that definitely took a nasty turn D:

herpes can not be tested for unless symptoms are present at the time and they take a swab. All the comments about using a condom as well are irrelevant, any area of skin that touches the rash can become infected, last I checked condoms don't cover your balls.

Wait...you're not supposed to pull the condom over your balls...good grief

Are you sure about that? When I found out my ex husband had been sleeping around, I got a blood test for STDs. Turned out I was so clean, the doctor was actually impressed. He said that I'd never had any type of herpes, not even a cold sore, which apparently is pretty uncommon.

You can get tested for herpes with a blood test, just FYI.

To #84 and #86 and anyone else interested. Ok, there are better people to explain it in better ways, but I will have a go. You can have blood tests which will tell you if you have type 1 or type 2, but it will not tell you where it is (mouth or genital). And if you have a blood test that shows you have neither type 1 or type 2, yay! No herpes for you! But for the other people who show they have type 1 or type 2, you need to wait until you have an outbreak (above and or below the belt) and then have a swab taken of the open sore to tell you if its type 1 or type 2. Traditionally, they used to think that type 1 was generally oral, and type 2 was genital. But now with oral sex being used as the equivalent of a handshake hello in some places (yay Uni!), the rates have changed. So you can have genital herpes that are type 1 and you can also have oral herpes that are type 2. There are also lots of different types of herpes as well, but I have reached my limit of knowledge without resorting to Google. So for further information, Google away. And if anyone would like to correct my information with better resources and information, please feel free. One I find really interesting is the one that wrestlers can get from the mat! Not from Matt, from the floor mat they use at the gym.

I have it, too. 1/5 people have genital herpes, and many don't even know it. Keep your head up, babe. it gets easier.

That's with you for life. Damn that sucks. I don't know what I would do

How could you confuse the two? Its not even similar in any way?

I would talk to my partner about that... Just in case... Have them get tested...
