Today, I learned that you can be qualified for a position, be a nice person and enthusiastic about working, but as soon as the boss has a relative looking for a job, nepotism wins. FML

tell your boss your his offspring from a one night stand and the only way to get out of paying for child support for all those years is to be promoted.

maybe his relative is just a better worker? it's not always nepetism

None of us believe that, and you know it

It's a possibility that the relative really is more qualified; but you're always going to be biased when hiring family members, no matter how hard you try not to be. And the way OP wrote it makes it sound like the boss hired the relative out of the blue, just because the guy needed a job.

That sucks op but what would you do in the boss's situation?

Yeah! People are always whining when it happens to them, but it's not like they'd have pushed their relative into the street and chosen a stranger over them if they had been in the boss' shoes!

Don't be such a ****** OP, Family have to help their own.

As we say, it's not what you know, it's who you know.

it's never what you know, it's who you know.
