Today, I looked up the side effects of the antidepressants I've recently started taking. Inability to orgasm is one of them. I can either not be depressed, or I can have an orgasm. FML

Orgasming is an antidepressant in itself :)

As a male who has been on anti-depressants for years I can tell you that it is an issue to some extent with all of them. It can be tough experimenting with medication but there will be one that strikes a happy medium for you. For me it was Effexor but it's different for everyone.

Harsh choices, Op. I know if I couldn't ******, I'd Need the antidepressants for sure. :p Damn. ;p

Ouch... hope that doesn't add to the depression

It did for me. I couldn't ****** when I first started taking Celexa, and there were nights where I would cry. I probably shed tears out of frustration more than anything else, but it sure didn't help the depression!

I've heard that orgasms can actually be the best natural painkiller/antidepressant.

If you had no problem having orgasms before, why would you be depressed?!

I was on heavy meds like this for 3 years and had this side effect along with no sex drice, thankfully my partner is amazing and understood. I'm off them now and ****** better than i ever have! So I'm now happy AND orgasming :P

I'm calling BS, no doctor in their right mind would ever prescribe an antidepressant that blocks the release of dopamine (which is what an ****** is; a surge of dopamine.) Dopamine is what makes you happy so no antidepressant would block the production or release of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoxetine It's very commonly prescribed.
