Today, I'm having a nice evening out on the town. After my complimentary round of drinks for my birthday, my friend walks in with a big pink gift-box. It was an inflatable... erm... 'friend.' Which then got unwrapped in front of several of my other friends. And several members of my family. FML

Today, it's my birthday and my friends and I went to our favorite pub to celebrate. As I'm a little broke at the moment, they all offered to buy me birthday drinks. Which I later learned meant that they would order them for me and bring them to the table, but put everything on my tab. FML

Today, I took my best friend out to dinner for my birthday. She gave me a gift after I paid the tab saying, "my mom thought you would like this - it was expensive." It was a lovely set of origami paper, which was the exact set I brought her as a souvenir from Japan. She was right, it was expensive. FML

Well, at least your friends love ya. Some fml's on here talk about friends not showing up at their b day party, stiffing them with a huge restaurant bill, or significant other dumping them at their own party.

I don't understand the people that are just saying, "You need to take a joke." Maybe they should perhaps realize that for many families, this would NEVER be considered a joke. I know if this happened around where I am, or especially in my family, people would be freakin' pissed off. I'd strangle the moron who brought it.

um... so? Blow up dolls are popular gag gifts. My family owns a love shop, and our inflatible sell great in the spring/summer as great batchelor party gags. Your friends sense of humour may be cliche, but it's also very common.
