Today, I'm quite ill. My new step-mother believes that the genetic wheat allergy I got from my mother would have gone away since she's now married to my father instead. Looks like dad picked a winner. FML

Just be thankful that she isn't your doctor.

Isn't that how genetics works? Your hair and eyes can change color too!

I've actually had people tell me that I shouldn't act smart all of the time because boys don't like that... Ive been dating the same boy for almost three years now and he's proud of me; my grades and GPA has given me scholarships that pay for my university completely. He'd rather me be smart than ditzy.

16 - I love your profile pic!! You sound like you have a wise head on your shoulders!

She apparently has never taken High School Biology or she failed that class! Genetics has nothing to do with step parents! I feel your pain!

Hahaha how is it possible for someone to be that stupid?

Does she have a brain? I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE CAN EVEN FUNCTION!

Is nobody going to state that allergies aren't genetic? Now both of you are morons.

my wheat allergy is genetic... the past 8 generations in my family have it.

Google "Celiac" and "Genetic" before name calling. Might help you some.

117- Hello, Op. My brother has Celiac's and agreed, it is genetic. Mind you, his is an intolerance, but it's easier to explain to people when he eats out to say "Food Allergy", they get the importance of zero cross contamination then.

I think you mean hereditary. Allergies are genetic, but not necessarily hereditary, i.e. they can run in the same family but don't always pass down parent to child.

Wheat intolerance isn't an allergy anyway - it's an intolerance (And a real pain in the ass!) so yes, it very much IS genetic!
