so, you only had enough to choose between bus fare and food, and you picked HUMMUS?! YDI hummus sucks
They clearly picked bus fare... as they returned the hummus.
Maybe you need to learn to budget your money better. You should have known how much money you can spend on groceries when you need the money to get around. Sounds like someone needs to teach you how to manage your money better. Besides, hummus isn't a necessity so it's really not that bad, maybe you can add it to your next grocery list.
It's possible this was a 1 time mishap. Too many people are assuming OP is careless and needs a lecture on handling money.
It definitely could have been. it wasn't meant to come off mean. I just mean like maybe write down how much money OP has, add the paycheck(or whatever it is they get), write down everything they NEED money wise, and then hopefully it'll help OP know how much they have to spend on groceries as I'm sure it was embarrassing to have to return it. It'll help with future situations.
Protip: You can actually open it, eat half of it, and then complain that it went bad(or anything really, wrong variety, etc) and still get a refund.
At least they're an honest person, if the store thinks that one is bad they could end up having to throw the whole shipment away and they lose money.
This actually kind of breaks my heart because I truly love hummus. I wish you all the best luck my friend~
Make your own hummus - I know pre-bought is easier but the money you save is crazy.
Unless you can't afford the ingredients to make your own.
Chickpeas are cheap but tahini isn't unless you plan to make a ton. I keep my hummus simple: chickpeas, fresh garlic, lemon juice, tahini, salt/pepper.
I'm sorry. I can sympathize. I've had to return new clothes and continue wearing faded holey ones because I needed the money. I hope things get better soon.
*returns hummus* *gets paycheck* *immediately goes clubbing*
Maybe this is just a ruse to get rid of the hummus. Maybe the hummus is the real victim. Just kidding, lol. When my Opa moved to Canada and my dad was born, the doctor told my Opa that he had to pay $10 fee for the birth of my dad. My opa couldn't afford it, so my opa gave his car keys to the doctor. The doctor realized the seriousness, so he gave the keys back to my opa. He didn't make my opa pay. Keep your chin up OP. When at the bottom, you can only go up.
life just isnt fare op ;)

Well, on the bright side, you still got to where to need to be.
