Today, I made a typo in a line of code, bringing the company website down. Our admin was already pissed about having to work over Christmas, and he started yelling at me and ended up punching my supervisor when he got between us. Pretty sure my screw up indirectly got the poor guy fired. FML

It's not your fault that he reacted so strongly and punched a guy.

I really don't see that as your fault that the guy over reacted and punched a superior

No. His temper got him fired. Whether he was mad at you or not he's the one who took it too far. Your screw up was fixable and he overreacted.

Indirectly got who fired? There's an ambiguity as to whether the admin or the supervisor was fired. :/

I think its pretty clear that the admin was the one who was fired..

Are you referring to your supervisor or the admin?

How are people not understanding that it was the admin who got fired? I thought it was pretty clear..the supervisor wouldn't be fired for getting punched while trying to break up the argument.

What someone else does with their emotions is not your fault. You didnt force him to punch the other guy.

your mistake yes in only dealing with the code. however take no responsibility in his violent actions.

If he punched someone, it wasn't your fault, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Be lucky you aren't hurt, oh and THANK YOUR SUPERVISOR!!!

Mistakes happen. Especially when coding. It is not your fault that the admin could not control his anger enough to not punch your supervisor.
