seriously though, he punched the supervisor. sounds like he was gonna get fired eventually . I wouldn't worry about jt too much. his kind are special .
He did handle the situation too literally. Shit happens in application. How you deal with it makes you a better team worker.
It's not your fault Op, everyone makes mistakes. It's a part of being human. Your co-worker just reacted too strongly too this entire situation and should've done it more calmly. Merry Christmas though OP!
even if your admin was mad they should've handled the situation better. in my opinion the admin should get fired or written up, not your supervisor
im pretty sure the supervisor isnt the one that got fired.
I would not blame myself for another adult not being able to control themselves. As a preschool teacher one lesson I've interated to my kids is "Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself". If he isn't capable of that then he probobly isn't grown up enough to have a job and needs to repeat pre-k. Plus, on the bright side it got him out of work on Christmas.
I fail to see how it's your fault. He was angry and punched somebody. That's not on you. That's on him.
If it hadn't been your mistake, something else would have set the guy off. He sounds like a loose cannon. Not your fault, OP.
"Poor guy" my ass! He's an adult and responsible for his own behavior. People make mistakes now and then. It happens. If that's how he behaves when a subordinate makes a mistake, he doesn't deserve a job.
Sounds like it's his fault he can't control his temper.

I really don't see that as your fault that the guy over reacted and punched a superior
