Hey, there's nothing wrong with imaginary friends! Your roommate just needs to realize that when having friends over (real or imaginary), you have to be respectful. So, don't be too loud, respect your sleeping hours, not take your stuff, etc. The only difference for you is that you can't see or hear your roommate's friend because he/she exists in his mind only. What's the big deal?

Inform him that if his "friend" is going to be sharing the place with you guys then the rent needs to be split 3 ways instead of 2. Either your roommate will have to come up with the money or he'll get mad at his "friend" for not contributing and hopefully he will evict him. :-)
