Whether she was a good mother or not, she shouldn't have said that. My best friend's father recently died. I hated that man. He was abusive, was a waste of life and screwed her up royally. I still attended his wake just to support her and listen to her reminisce about him even though he was a bastard who didn't deserve the love she gave him. You're supposed to support the person during their loss, as long as they loved them.
