Today, I played in a high school concert. Some alumni of the band were sitting in the audience and were brought to tears. Not because it was beautiful, but because they were sad to see how much the music program had declined since they left. FML

WHAT?! No, I'm sure you did great. The arts are declining and it's sad to see. Hopefully they'll bounce back!

I'd rather listen to your music than crap Justin Bieber makes

I know how this is. When I graduated our music program declined sooo much. I was a proud low brass instrumentalists and was so sad to see a program I was once apart of go down in flames

Instead of crying about it they should take up the position of teaching, for free.

Time to kick it old school then I guess.

I feel the same way whenever I see my old high school band.

You go to monroe, don't you? Lmao.

I now feel like watching Mr. Holland's Opas

It's sad but true. School music is falling apart. It's the first program hit by school budget cuts.

Not in my school. The ag department goes first

Sadly music programs all over the country are declining. Schools are now focusing more on sports than subjects and activities that actually mean something.

My (former) band director recently retired, and most of my fellow alumni were extremely antagonistic toward the new director. A lot of the older kids who were still in high school rage quit because she wasn't going to leave everything exactly the same, and as a result our band has sucked the last couple of years. That in turn has made alumni hate the director all the more. I don't blame the director for all this stuff, but it does make me want to cry when I see how far the band has fallen in just two years. However, I also know that we'll start getting better again soon, when younger kids repopulate the band and start improving. I'm sure that will happen with your band soon, OP. :)
