Today, I poured my heart out to my now ex-girlfriend over the recent passing away of my grandmother. Her eyes glazed over multiple times, and when I said that I don't know how to cope with everything, her advice was simply, "Shotgun. Mouth. Blam." FML

Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML

Today, I ran into my ex-girlfriend's grandparents at church. After 5 minutes of catching up, my ex's frail grandmother asked me when I'm planning on "joining the family". I had to explain to them that their granddaughter had dumped me exactly 2 years before. She cried. FML

What the ****? If that's her advice she clearly has no idea how to cope with life! Here's my advice.. Try to just think about the good things you remember about her. It took me 6-7 years to finally get over the loss of mine.. For 2 years I lost the only thing I had left to remember her by. Then I was forced to go 'well okay I guess that's it, I need to forget her now.' Not forget her as a person but forget the loss of her. Oddly enough just as I did that I found the object in question while cleaning the house and it holds a lot of fond memories for me now :) think of her positively and remember the good things, the funny things, etc about her.. Mourn yes but don't mourn the loss of those things being gone. Nothing us ever truly gone of its in your heart and your memories. I can't tell you not to grieve. But I can suggest in your grieving try to find happiness and peace to, that you were blessed enough to have her in your life and all the nice memories you made.
