Advice for next time. Never try to remove the coolant cap if the car of hot or at running temperature. In most newer cars with a plastic cap on the reservoir, you can't remove it while hot anyway due to the pressure locking the cap on for that exact reason.
You need some serious elbow grease to get some things off...hope she didn't laugh at you (if she did) too hard
It was probably still hot and the pressure that had built up was making it hard to open. You should be glad it didn't, you would've been scalded.
