well where were u when this happened? XD
You should never punish a dog. They don't understand it, and your actions won't improve the animal. You'll only make the animal miserable and possibly aggressive. All you can do is teach the animal what is right. Dogs are very willing to learn. Please, OP, take the dog to a shelter or give it away. Anyone who would punish a dog by putting it in his kennel is dangerous to the dog.
Probably a normal one? All dogs need potty training and some will pee/poop on the floor before they are trained
YDI. if you want your dog housebroken, either train him or pay someone to do it. clearly you have no idea what you're doing.
A puppy isn't going to be able to hold it till you're ready to go outside that's going to happen. The kennel should not feel like punishment and if you start smacking the dog at some point the dogs going to associate with your fingers with something to be bitten really help find someone to help you train the dog or give the dog away do you obviously don't know what you're doing
TBF they said dog not puppy. Regardless a dog is not a person and shouldn't be punished for something like this. It's evidence they need to work on training.
If you think in terms of punishment you might not fit to own a dog. And I mean not only your wish to punish the dog but also you thinking the dog wants "to punish" you, too! Nope. Don't anthropomorphize animals --- if you do, you really should not keep a pet.
Did you exercise your dog at all that day? I have a puppy and she behaves a lot better and chews on less stuff when she is exercised. All that puppy energy has to go somewhere and they do love chewing on things. Get her some good chew toys that they have to get little treats out of, that will keep her occupied some. I don't think your dog was trying to get back at you maliciously, maybe your dog had a lot of energy to exert and it went into destroying stuff. My puppy is kind of like my second toddler, can't leave her alone with things I don't want destroyed but after her walks she tends to calm down on her chewing things up. Also I have to take them to the potty every 30 minutes to see if they have to go so they don't go on the floor. She will learn with consistency, mine has learned faster than my toddler haha. Good luck!
My method was always to try and yell no while the dog was first squatting or lifting a leg, either preventing or stopping the pee mid-stream, then rushing outside and giving tons of praise and a cookie for peeing in the grass. Works like a charm for me.
Time to give the dog away.
The kennel should be a good place for your dog, not a punishment. Accidents happen but he'll get the hang of it. Ignore the mistakes and instead praise and reward him when he goes outside.

You should never use kennel as punishment. Next time you want to put your dog there because you have guests or small kids over then your dog thinks you are punishing it. When you have a new dog you can only say no just as your catch it doing its business. If not it won't know why you punish it. YDI for not reading up on how to train dogs.
A kennel should not serve as a punishment.
