Today, I ran over my neighbors' cat. I didn't want it to look like I killed it, so I put it under my other neighbor's car so it would look like they ran over it. The cat's owners were watching me. FML

If you know that your pet is prone to sneaking out, then it's up to you to a) either keep them from doing so, or b) accept that a terrible outcome may happen to your pet. I'm not at all condoning the follow-up actions of the OP, but people need to realize that not everyone is going to imperil their own safety to save Fluffy when he darts out into the road. If you care enough about your pets, you keep tabs on them and eliminate the potential for something like this to happen; it isn't always the driver's fault that your pet got hit.
