Today, I realized how poor I am when I had to use sharpies to color in the worn spots on my dress shoes before leaving for work. FML

OP here. Thanks lol. That's actually exactly what I was doing. I'm only 21, and I work in a very professional office, and I always need to look my best. I can't afford new shoes at the time, so that's why I sharpied them.

I've done that. Except it wasn't because I was poor. It was because I got the heel of my prom shoes stuck in an air vent and I didn't want my mum to know.

I supervise a staff of 8 and manage a group home for 4 adults with disabilities with a half a million dollar budget- I have tattoos. Didn't stop me from getting hired, and I have done that to my shoes. It happens. I can remember my mom using white polish on her nursing shoes when I was a kid. Same principle. Don't be ashamed.
