Today, I realized that I will be leaving for the US Marine Corps in June, and the presidential election is in November. I could potentially be serving with Trump as my Commander-in-Chief. FML

I wish you luck, and thank you for serving

I really hope Trump doesn't happen to your country.

Firstly, thank you for your service. Secondly, you knew what you were getting into when you signed up.

I know this will probably start a shitstorm but I'll say it anyways. I'm pretty sure trump knows a bunch of the shit he says is crazy and unrealistic, but he says it because he knows the media will flock around and give him free attention. He's only doing it to **** with the media and get free coverage.

Also keep in mind that in the last few years his political beliefs basically did a complete 180.

It's unlikely he'll win anyway, he has alienated too many people with his sexist and xenophobic rants. I'm not American but I have faith in these people. They won't let that happen.

I'm genuinely afraid for this country if Bernie wins

why might that be? What about him is terrifying? Does the thought of entering the 21st century with some form of universal healthcare and education, + infrastructure repair that would be a big boon for the vocational trades, scare you?

#24 Finally! A college aged American who hasn't drank the Bernie juice! It's good to see some people still have common sense.

#30 You realized you just described socialism, socialism has been around for longer then just the 21st century. If you would like that so much you are free to go visit a socialist country and ask them how much they pay in taxes. Heck you should even try living there for awhile.

Except the upper class will be facing higher taxes versus the lower classes. Along with that, people pay out an arm and a leg for education and medical insurance as it is. I think the taxes that you're so worried about will cost around the same on average if less.

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Political debates on FML can only end badly. I'll be over here eating my popcorn.

Actually, you can still make a different career choice, no matter what those lying-ass recruiters tell you. You are not sworn nor contractually bound until your swearing in at MEPS happens. If it is truly that important to you to serve under a non-Trump POTUS, then wait until the election is over to enlist so you can make sure you know who you're getting. Also, to the person that said "you knew what you were getting into when you signed up", I laugh heartily at your joke. It's adorable that you think recruiters shoot straight with their potential enlistees. Their job is to make quotas, not be honest with young men and women interested in joining the armed forces.

You are still a poole, you can still get out of it. You haven't signed your actual contract until MEPS the morning you leave. GL
