And? Is that the end of the story? You applied for a job, then you moved, then they called you... so you can't accept the job offer? That's not a very good FML.
The jobs with the census bureau are only temporary. If OP takes this job, and it's over in a few months she'd have to start all over with applying for and receiving unemployment benefits. Plus it wouldn't be easy to move yet again if she has not had a job since moving to Florida unless her unemployment paid well. If her previous job(s) did not pay well then neither will her unemployment.
If it's a real job, not temp, take it.
The government employees working the census office are ******* retards. I applied for a position about six months ago, also, and the shit-for-brains that inserted my info into the computer entered my SSN wrong, which when noticed, apparently gets you red flagged and not only do you not get the job, does not simply "go away" like it was just a little misunderstanding. In fact, pursuing the matter seemed to only give me more to deal with. What pissed me off even more is that I had aced the test beforehand, and by talking to others that had actually gotten recruited, I learned that apparently there were a ton of idiots doing this thing that had scored much worse.
I applied last February for a job with the census while I was living in California. They called me right away to tell me I had gotten a perfect score. They then called me about 5 more times that week to make sure I had taken the test, and then to tell me again how well I did. Then I moved back to Massachusetts where my parents live, called the census there, and never heard back. Now that I'm away at school, in neither CA or MA, the census calls me for a job. THANKS A LOT.
Thats the feds Lol it may take years to get the job done but at least they are working on it...
wow......I SOOOOO HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME!!!! except mine was the DAY AFTER I ARRIVED TO MY MOTHERS HOUSE IN FLORIDA i received a letter saying ACS in new york city wanted to hire me....after waiting 5 months....my world collapsed during those 5 months:(
So why not ask if they have any positions in Florida for now?

Screw those guys. People who wait forever to inform you about a job like that are sonsofbitches.
the irony of it all! well that sucks did you decide to take the job?
