Today, I received a text at 6am from my boss stating that my services are no longer required. He couldn't even wait until I was awake to fire me. FML

Fortunately it was nothing to do with my work ethic or wrong doings on my part. The business simply couldn't support the amount of staff it had at the time.

go in and pretend you didnt get the text message. simple as that. firing via text message is very unprofessional and you can delete messages and they will never know if you got it or not..

Do you not have a home phone? Can you not receive calls on your cell? I don't know what kind of professional boss texts a person to fire them unless there's no other method to contact you.
