Today, I received three big boxes from my mother in law, containing expensive cookware. I was puzzled, because I know that she hates me. Turns out she mailed them to us by mistake. Not only did she not get us anything, but I now have to pay to ship the boxes to her neighbor. FML

I say act like you never received anything in the first place (; "what ever do you mean pots and pans? we got nothing"

Why would she mail them to her neighbour? Seems weird that she couldn't just have brought them next door herself...

you don't have to pay anything. it's her mistake, she needs to pay to fix it.

just don't give it back I mean finders keepers

She definitely needs to reimburse you for the shipping costs

Tell her to come get them or send $ to cover corrected shipping. Or two her to tell the neighbor to come get them.

Like some comments have stated, dont ship them. youre not forced to. its her mistake. if she wants them that bad she can come get them.

Don't pay to ship them to her neighbor. Make her pay. It's not your problem.

Did the boxes have your name and address on them? If so, I see no problem with you keeping the contents. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever, why you should have to pay to ship them to someone else if they were addressed to you.

No, you most certainly do not. She can come get them.

I would have just been like, "Nope, I'll take them to the post office but you're paying for shipping". It wouldn't be disrespectful, not really. It would show your ability to stand your ground, especially over something that wasn't even your fault. What's the worst that would happen, she hates you even more? I mean, come on.

If it has your address then it's yours to keep. She's SOL for mailing it to the wrong address. Returning them will not change her attitude towards you anyway. So let her take the loss not you.
