Today, I saw my unemployed 29-year-old son, who still lives with us, reading the work section of the newspaper and prayed that he was looking for a job. He was looking for the comics. FML

Today, my dad called my recently unemployed son a no-good bum for not job hunting. My son literally spent all day beefing up his resume and scheduling job interviews for the whole week. It's not the 1920s anymore, dad. You can't just walk into a building, ask for a job, and get hired right on the spot. FML

Today, like every day, I scrolled through my social media feeds, seeing happy couples, people buying houses and landing their dream jobs. I, on the other hand, am a single 23 year-old man in a dead end job, who still lives with his parents. FML

Today, my son's homework was to write a story about what he wants to be when he grows up. He wrote that he plans on being unemployed and living at home until we throw him out, then he'll live under a bridge. He's only 12, but already planning for a future as an unemployed bum. FML

Today, after months of job hunting, I finally got a phone call. They were impressed with me. That's when my son decided to throw a tantrum asking for food. After some silence, the caller told me they were looking for someone who wasn't juggling little kids at home and hung up. My son is 20. FML

comic store clerk? comic/graphic novel publishing house mail room boy? gotta start somewhere. if it's not a serious interest, sit down with him and ask him what job he'd really like to do. explain that he won't get his dream job straight away (usually) and that he'll need to apply for jobs in either related fields OR lower down the ladder in a company where his dream-job exists. explain to him how you need your space and you need to know that he can take care of himself. come up with some strategies/solutions and after a while go down the arse-kicking path. start out with supplying him with hope though, otherwise it sounds like he's the sort of guy who gets overwhelmed with the real world... good luck sorting it out. :)

55 I need to grow up? I got out of prison for the first time since my 13th birthday at age 20 and I have been driving semi truck since then. 60k a year and no fixed address. (thus the name) I have three daughters, all by the same woman no less, and I take care of them. What area of my life needs maturity? Or did I just strike a nerve when I made a crack about living at home at mine and the op's age showing a lack of ambition.

we are in a bad economy and maybe nobody hu is hiring fits ur sons parameters he is just like millions of people and so what if he reads the comics? that is why people spend thier time writing them!! he is ur son!
