Today, I saw my unemployed 29-year-old son, who still lives with us, reading the work section of the newspaper and prayed that he was looking for a job. He was looking for the comics. FML

YDI for allowing him to still live with u.

LoL, why don't you just confront him? instead of just waiting for him. he obviously isn't looking for a job.

make that lazy bass pro-shop get a job..

maybe the son is suffering from a mental disease like depression, anxiety or ADD which have been proven to negatively affect productivity - ESPECIALLY in the workplace. and he was eating, who hasn't read the comics or watched tv then? all you people posting that you should kick him out obviously are blind to the fact that it's not the 90s and starting out on your own isn't that simple anymore. there's a high probability he'll end up homeless and will die do to starvation, a hate crime, or suicide. and for those saying YDI have most likey grown up in homes with withholding parents, whether that be financially or emotionally. did the OP love their son? yes. did they smother him? maybe. but don't blame the kid. it's the same as asking a rape victim, slave, or hostage to suddenly go out into the world by themselves. they've been conditioned to be a certain way and while they might adjust they also are pretty likely to have a psychotic break and loose their shit. just keep loving him and encourage him to take a few community college classes or put a resume up on a site like monster.com. and don't kick him out right away. the OP obviously cares about their son so they wouldn't want him to be a slave to creditors a week in to the job. let him "rent" his room from you for a few months until he can save up for rent money and have a bit of a nest egg saved up for him to fall back on.

wow that actually is a really good point! I never even thought of that! good for you sticking up for those who need it :)

what a ******* pussy-fied comment. Get a ******* life.

#177 if OP does love their son then they wouldn't let him go to something like suicide or starvation if OP has raised the son rite then he should b able to figure something out And OP why wouldn't you make your sons childhood just beraly bad enough for him to want 2 leave if he did want to leave He'd be open and willing to get a roommate or two

Actually, Alberta is one of the best places in Canada to find a job right now.

Maybe he's reading Doonesbury in order to get a grasp on the political and economic climate to find the most promising employer?

never beat a man-child it can lead to shaken man-child syndrome

it's your own fault. MAKE him go out and do something instead of crying that he isn't. apparently you didn't instill work ethic or drive while raising him, so don't complain now that he doesn't have any!

This doesn't mean he don't have a drive

so what comics r funny. how about do what they did in step brothers and give him one month to find a job or he's out on his ass.
