Today, I saw the guy I bullied during elementary school and tried to apologize to him. Instead, he took out a knife and stabbed me. I'm currently in the ER. FML

Bullying is damaging no matter how small or insignificant. While trying to apologize is an admirable thing to do and I praise you for it, it won't erase the days of pain that the victim has gone through. I'm hoping that you're safe and healing with the support of family and friends. And I hope that your attacker gets caught by the authorities and is given the help that they need.

I never want to meet the upwards of over 1500+ people who think attempting to murder someone for something that occurred in elementary school is acceptable. I get that bullying can have a long lasting traumatic physiological impact, but a person doesn't deserve to be killed for what they did as a kid.

I was bullied pretty badly in school, but I don't think I'd stab the person responsible (especially because it's been at least 30 years since I've seen any of them and wouldn't remember what they look like). While you deserve a bit of misery for having bullied someone, stabbing is a rather extreme reaction.

It’s disgusting how many people are saying he deserved it he’s saying it happened in elementary school they weren’t even teenagers he didn’t deserve to be stabbed for what he did at like 9 years old good that guy is the one who has problems he’s had his whole life to get over it and someone’s actually trying to apologize to him and make it right and he stabs them knowing that could land him in jail and honestly he’s probably had a lifetime in and out of jail if he will stab someone over such a small thing

Wow, I'm surprised there are so many YDI's here. Yes, bullying is bad and needs to stop, but the guy got STABBED for God's sake. I doubt his victim ever wound up in the ER. Or, if he did, yes OP deserves the sweet karma. We need to know more about what this "bullying" entailed. Was it name calling/tripping in the hallway type of stuff, or more like cyber bullying and things like that? Regardless, you shouldn't have bullied anyone, OP, but I highly doubt you deserved to be stabbed, especially while trying to apologize (even if it's too little too late).
