Today, I spent my last $50 to get a ticket to take my daughter out for a nice birthday dinner tonight. It wasn't until after I purchased it that I realized the restaurant isn't even open on Mondays. FML

If she's young enough, tell her the restaurant had to close today so that they could take enough time to make her an especially nice birthday dinner and they will be happy to serve her tomorrow. I'm sure that will be sufficient and then plan something special but free tonight,while giving her your undivided attention in the meantime

Most family/locally owned? There isn't a local resturaunt in my town that has ever been open on Mondays. Its quite common, especially in smaller towns. The only option is fast food or cook at home.

I assumed it wasn't open Monday because of the Easter holiday. Where I am things are closed Friday and Sunday and a lot of people are taking Monday off too.
