Today, I spent two hours making dinner for my boyfriend's family. When I brought it over to their house they said "thanks" and didn't bother to invite me to stay to eat it. FML

At least now you know they're not worth expending any effort for.

You should have said "Now that you saw my food I guess I'll be leaving with it, I just wanted to show you how delicious it was!!"

well, look at the bright side, they probably thought the food was good :) but yeah fyl. that's messed up for what they did.

Don't do stuff expecting amazing praise ... Do it to do it. Then you won't have to whine when the recipient doesn't rip off their clothes and grovel at your feet for bringing them a stupid meal ...

they are all assholes. ....that is all

Wait, what? If I made something, I'll just drop it off and proceed with my day. Are americans entitled to be invited for making dinner? What am I missing?

I don't make people food and expect them to share it with me. I made it for them, it is theirs. Especially if it was unexpected and I just show up with it. You say please enjoy this gift and leave. Maybe down the road they will bring you a plate of cookies or something. Never do anything for anyone with expectations. Simply do it out of the kindness of your heart.
