so im going to go out on a limb and say that his parents dont like you
Seriously, FML has really shown me that some families are so ******* rude, even the parents..jesus.
Break up
Remember, for future reference, those are the people who raised your boyfriend. Run away!
I don't really think this is necessarily a bad thing. People should be giving to others without feeling like they should be given something in return. You did a nice thing for his family, and they thanked you for it. If it were me, I'd be happy just doing something nice for them, without expecting anything more. I've had friends/family make stuff for me all the time, but i'm kind of shy/awkward, so I usually splutter a "thankyou so much!" and set it aside. I won't even eat it until they have left... Just some thoughts :)
They are shitbags. Now you know :)
I agree with everyone who said that this is a YDI because A) you expected to be invited B) though you did a nice thing I think you did it more for the praise rather than for doing something nice C) you're blaming them did you ever stop to think that they might have assumed you had other plans when you just left? I'm sure there was a conversation between the family and yourself and not just you handing over the food and having the door slammed in your face I'll even bet that you announced your departure (going back to them possibly assuming you had other plans) I can come up with many many reasons that this is a YDI so stop being a baby sit your bf down and talk about it stop whining and get to the bottom of it and IF they are just that way then ok it is an FYL and now you've learned something.... HOWEVER, if it is just a massive misunderstanding then you are a massive moron who totally what was deserved.
dump the boyfriend. he doesn't deserve you.
First, why did you make them diner? If it was on a whim to impress them, then YDI! It is extremely rude of you to expect them to drop everything they were doing for you. I'm sure they are nice people (if they aren't, you shouldn't be with your boyfriend) and will invite you for diner (in their house) on their own terms, not yours. Second, If they asked you to make diner, why not just eat at your place? - this way you don't need to go through the hassle of transporting it. And, if they did indeed as you for diner, then they're rude.

At least now you know they're not worth expending any effort for.
You should have said "Now that you saw my food I guess I'll be leaving with it, I just wanted to show you how delicious it was!!"
