Today, I stopped by my local bar to maybe meet some new people. I sat in between two groups. Within a minute both groups got up and left. FML

OP Here ...well to a lot of you, Thanks for your sympathy! This was supposed to be an emphasis on how hard it is to talk to people in the real world! This actually happened and u sat at a spot that was empty, I didn't squeeze anywhere. it was likely coincidental but it did feel lonely when the half of the seating area became empty at once. gets lonely pretty quick.

You cant blame yourself for that one, it's most likely a coincidence. Find someone who seems to be there alone and strike up a conversation. Bar goers are usually more than friendly.

its okay OP, I will still love you in the same, unconditional way.. Just... don't be weird about it..

Haven't you seen Superbad? I know you're female. But people you meet at bars are ******. Gotta go the grocery store and yoga class.

Lol people at bars can be decent people, perhaps OP came off a little too strong, or might need a shower? Only OP knows why they walked away

It wasn't a serious comment. My roommate is a bartender and he meets lots of interesting people (that presumably aren't ******). But conventional wisdom would suggest bars aren't the best place to make new friends unless you just want to hook up. More so seems like you'd go to a bar with your own friend group and other groups would be less likely to leave. Either OP is highly different from the people in that region or they were plotting a crime.

Might not be: what if both groups were waiting for the same movie/bus/whatever?

That would be a coincidence in that case. It wouldn't be if they really had a reason for getting away from OP.

Oh yeah. I kinda blanked on what we we're talking about there, didn't I?

I wouldn't take it to heart, sometimes groups are just uncomfortable with new people approaching.

Aww op, Try again maybe? Cause it might have been coincidence that they left so quickly. Anyways I wish you luck! :)

Maybe both groups were really shy?
