Today, after admitting he had feelings for me, my crush returned from out of town. He'd said that while he was gone, he'd meet people, but only think of me. He came back no longer single. He's known her for 4 days. We've known each other for 6 years. FML

Today, I realized my love life is a mess. I’ve been married for nine years, having an affair with a good friend for over a year, and I'm still in love with the boy who broke my heart years ago, and contacts me only when he is lonely. Today, I went back to my high school for an event with some of my friends, both of which are in relationships. Whilst there we saw our favorite teacher, who hugged us and said, "I heard you have a boyfriend! And so do you!" And then she turned to me and said, "And... And you're doing great things!" FML

It is a little strange he didn't try once in those 12 years to contact you, unless you contacted him first this time. But if he did honestly love you all that time you should tell him he should move on as he deserves to find love!

Sounds like infatuation, not love. Sorry you had to hear that OP- that's super awkward but don't feel guilty about it. If he has refused to move on with his life, that's his problem- you don't have control over what others decide to do with their lives and it's not a problem you intentionally created or caused.
