Today, I teach English in Taiwan. I got two new students, brothers named Harry and Potter. People, they're children, not pets. FML

You're such a n00b. They give themselves English names. Parents don't have much to do with it. Don't be dumb. This is not an FML. Other people's problems don't FML, and they don't yours either unless they're family.

#24- i had a high school classmate whose mother's name was jackie. their last name was knoff (silent K). i always love to share that. =) and we had a classmate, val, who married into the last name ubl.

It's I HAVE two new students etcetera, not I GOT two new students etcetera. Nice job English teacher.

He GOT two new students in his class meaning they just came. Have is present tense if used like how you suggested, he was going for past tense jackass.

If you're planning on writing "etc." in its full form, then it's et cetera, not etcetera.

And I thought I was a strict grammar policeman...

she actually GOT the students because she didn't have them before........

Actually no, it is GOT since it happened in the past.

No, OP GOT as in received. If you're going to be a grammar Nazi, at least do it correctly.
